296c // Prof. Dan Friedman
Third Year Seminar
This term the class usually meets Tuesdays at 4pm in 492 E2 with Dan Friedman, until week 7, when the class will meet with KC Fung at 6 pm.
Participants are expected to present once, for about 40 minutes, and to write up their results by the end of the quarter. It is advantageous to bring your advisor along when you present.
Special Events
Prof. David Kaun has offered to host two 20-30 minute mini-workshops on writing, tentatively Tuesday April 14 and 21. Send him a two page sample, e.g., an introduction to a paper you are writing, the preceding Friday, and he will go through 3 or 4 of them, showing how to make improvements.
Dan, Jon Robinson and Ryan Oprea will each give a brief talk on gathering data via field experiment or laboratory experiment. The first talk may be April 28. On May 5, Prof David Reiley (Yahoo and U of Arizona) will give the 2pm seminar on internet field experiments (a technique he pioneered), and may also meet with the class briefly.
